Sunday, 01st August – Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) reports on latest updates of their work at Shaviyani atoll Foakaidhoo.
According to the contractor, their design and build of the island’s harbor was underway with an overall 41% progress achieved.
Moreover, MTCC has confirmed on delivering the second shipment of rock boulders required for the breakwater construction, to the project site. The completed breakwater will measure a total of 507-meters in length.
Scope of work for the project includes dredging operations for the new harbor’s basin which spans 39,995 cubic meters in volume as well as the dredging of existing harbor’s basin for a volume of 1,800 cubic meters.
In addition to this, dredging works for the harbor’s channel will span a total of 4,000 cubic meters.
Other work components include the construction a revetment, quay wall and a breakwater the latter of which is currently at ongoing capacity. Furthermore, the length of these structures measure 100-meters for the revetment and 464-meters for the quay wall.
On the other hand, MTCC will develop a paved area spanning 2,320 square meters along with the installation of navigation and street lights.
The contractor reports the project valuation at a total of MVR52.7 million.
