    Maldives President Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday evening, 03rd October, officially declared the National Tourism Day.

    As such, the National Tourism Day of the island nation will be commemorated every year on 03rd October. Moreover, the statesman made the declaration while delivering his remarks at a ceremony held in Kurumba Maldives on Sunday evening.

    The event was hosted in order to officially launch the one-year countdown to the 50th anniversary of the Maldives tourism industry. The island nation’s tourism industry officially started with the opening of its very first resort; Kurumba Maldives on 03rd October 1972.

    While the island nation did not have a designated day to celebrate its booming tourism industry before, it had always been commemorated coinciding the International Tourism Day.

    The National Tourism Day was designated purposefully on 03rd October, to coincide with the opening of the country’s first resort while the Maldives will celebrate the golden jubilee of tourism industry in the coming year.

    During the ceremony held on Sunday evening, Maldives president had commended the efforts of the tourism industry workers and affiliates, emphasizing on their contributions and commitment towards pushing the tourism industry ahead.
