    Tourist arrivals to Maldives exceed 890K as of October first week

    Tourist arrivals to the Maldives exceed 890K so far in 2021

    According to the latest reports from Ministry of Tourism, the total tourist arrivals to the Maldives as of 05th October has reached 890,363.

    Moreover, the total tourist arrivals to Maldives exclusively from 01st to 05th October stood at 19,501 which is a 521.1% improvement from the same period in 2020, where the arrival count stood at just 3,140.

    However, when compared with the same period in 2019, the arrival count in the review period is still a negative 15.6% since the arrival total in that corresponding period in 2019 stood at 23,111.

    India continues to remain as the top tourist source market to the Maldives with a total arrival of 204,530 so far which is 23.0% of the total tourist arrivals to the country.

    Meanwhile, Russia remains at the second spot with an arrival total of 174,095 so far which is 19.6% of the total tourist arrivals to the Maldives. Germany remains at the third spot with an arrival total of 55,707 which is 6.3% of the arrival total, while USA is at fourth spot with an arrival total of 36,175 which is 4.1% of the total arrivals.

    Emerging tourist market to the Maldives, Saudi Arabia is currently on fifth spot with an arrival total of 30,782 which is 3.5% of the total arrivals to the country.
