A group of journalists from Japan arrived in Maldives on the invitation of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) as part of the corporation’s tourism familiarization trip series.

The Japanese journalists arrived in Maldives on Tuesday, 11th January 2022 and will be staying in the island nation until Monday, 17th January. This is first tourism familiarization trip organized by the tourism promoter for the current year.

The delegation included journalists from highly popular and lauded news agencies and publications catering and operating in the Japanese market with a combined readership reach exceeding millions.

According to Visit Maldives (MMPRC), the journalists will be hosted in both Pullman Maldives Maamutaa and Mercue Maldives Kooddoo.

The team of reporters will familiarize themselves with the Maldivian hospitality experiences and observe various offerings for tourists.

The journalists are expected to write about their respective experiences in several of the publications in online and offline travel media which will act as destination promotion material aimed to increase popularity of Maldives among Japanese travelers.

Japan had been the ninth strongest source market to the Maldives in 2019 with a total of 44,251 confirmed tourists visiting the island nation from the East Asian country.
