    Tourist arrivals to the Maldives exceed 289k

    According to the latest update from the Ministry of Tourism, tourist arrivals to the Maldives in annual terms reached over 289,000.

    The ministry’s latest statistics with the reviewed date of 02nd March confirms that the total number of tourist arrivals reached 289,964. The annual tourist arrival to the island nation observed an increment of 48.6% when compared with the corresponding period in 2021.

    Moreover, the daily arrival average in annual terms reached 4,754 while the average duration of stay is currently at 8.8 days.

    As for tourist source markets, Russia maintained the top spot with a share of 15.2% and a total arrival count of 44,055 tourists as of 02nd March. On the other hand, the United Kingdom is currently at the second spot with a market share of 11.0% with an annual total of 31,921 arrivals.

    Furthermore, India has supported itself in the third spot without moving either way with a market share of 9.0% and an annual total arrival of 26,094. Germany is consistent at the fourth spot with a market share of 7.5% with an annual arrival total of 21,807 tourists.

    Meanwhile, Italy continued to stick to the fifth spot with a market share of 6.8% and an annual total arrival of 19,696 tourists.
