    Tourist arrivals to Maldives exceed 427k by March end

    The latest update from Ministry of Tourism confirms that the annual total of tourist arrivals to the Maldives reached 427,677 as of 30th March 2022.

    Meanwhile, the total number of tourist arrivals from 01st to 30th March was recorded at 146,905 in comparison with the same period in 2021 during which the arrival count reached 77,769, and 59,630 during 2020 for the same period.

    As for tourist arrivals in annual terms, the total number of tourist arrivals in 2021 from January to March stood at 295,479 and in 2020 it reached 382,762.

    Tourist arrivals to the Maldives in annual terms observed a growth of 44.7% when compared with 2021, but it was still 10.7% below pre-pandemic levels in 2019.

    Furthermore, the daily arrival average in annual terms is currently at 4,805 and the average duration of stay is currently at 8.6 days.

    Russia has maintained top source market position with 52,081 annual arrivals which is 12.2% of the market share, while the United Kingdom is slowly catching up; with an annual arrival total of 49,555 which is 11.6% of the market share.

    On the other hand, India is currently ranked third with 46,154 arrivals which is 10.8% of the market share and Germany is ranked fourth with 31,724 arrivals which is 8.1% of the market share. Italy is ranked fifth with 29,879 arrivals which is 7.0% of the market share.
