Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has participated in the BIT Milan held in Italy.

The travel trade fair held in Italy; the traditional top source market of the Maldives, commenced on 10th April, Sunday and will last until Tuesday, 12th April 2022.

The event is organized by Fiera Milano since 1980, aimed at connecting potential investors, corporate travel decision makers, tour operators, and travel agents with VIP clients from the hospitality, leisure, and travel industries.

MMPRC took part in the fair alongside nine other co-exhibitors, and the tourism promoter confirms that participation in the event is aligned with its marketing strategies for the Italian market.

Maldives is consistently promoted in similar fairs and events as a tourism safe haven, providing natural social distancing due to its geographical landscape.

The island nation had welcomed over 1.3 million tourists in 2021, out of which travelers from Italy were recorded at 27,309 which translates to 41.5% of the market share. Meanwhile, Italy is currently the fifth strongest source market to the Maldives with 19,696 arrivals accounted for so far in 2022, which is 6.8% of the total tourist arrivals to the country.
