Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) gears up to launch their mini-bus service in Male’ City under the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) by late-July.

MTCC Chief Executive Mr. Adam Azim confirms the company’s active plans to launch the service between Maldives capital and Hulhumale’. During an appearance on a Public Service Media’s (PSM) show, MTCC Chief confirms all preparations for the service launch complete.

The contracting and transport company is designing the newly acquired buses to suit the streets of the capital. MTCC is also arranging locations to park the buses when not in operation, while training necessary staff for the initiative.

“MTCC is ready to begin [the] mini-bus service. MTCC has made all preparations. The target is to begin the service this month,” comments Mr. Azim.

Currently the transport company is awaiting permission from Male’ City Council, which has yet to grant permission to MTCC for building bus stops across the city and Hulhumale’ for the mini-bus service.

Earlier, MTCC made clearance of over 30 mini-buses from Male’ Commercial Harbor; 12 of the vehicles will be put to use in Male’ and the other 24 in heavily populated atolls in Maldives.

The transport company is expected to announce fare rates for the mini-bus service soon, while it affirms mini-bus service will be available at the stops every 10 minutes.
