Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) promoted the Maldives at the International Media Marketplace (IMM) Australia 2023.

MMPRC took part in the international travel trade fair to promote the “Sunny Side of Life” in the Australian market. The event was held from 23rd to 24th February in Sydney, Australia.

The event provided MMPRC with the opportunity to meet with top journalists and media publications from the Oceanic market to promote its upcoming events, such as the Visit Maldives Storytellers’ Conference 2023. Additionally, MMPRC took part in the event to gain opportunities to strengthen destination presence and learn the overall Oceanic market.

During the first day of the event, MMPRC attended the exclusive TravMedia summit. The summit hosted panel discussions on a variety of topics such as broadcast media and inclusive tourism.

This was followed by networking sessions with over 150 A-list media publications in the Oceanic region, keynote speeches, and panel discussions on topics such as the role of DMOs in 2023 and public relations.

The event was attended by some of the most notable media outlets in the travel and trade industry which included BBC Travel, Conde Nast Traveler, Vogue Magazine, National Geographic Traveler, and others.

MMPRC conducted 22 pre-scheduled meetings during the second day.

According to MMPRC, the main purpose of participating in the event was to promote the Maldives as a preferred holiday destination for travelers, as well as to update the Australian media with the latest information and travel guidelines of the Maldives.

Moreover, participation in IMM Australia is also in line with MMPRC’s strategy to maintain the destination presence in the market. This participation will also enhance the future bookings and arrival figures from Australia and New Zealand markets.

As of 20th February 2023, Maldives welcomed 4,125 tourists from Australia.
