The “Kula Kula” Festival of Colors will be held at Oaga Art Resort from 07th to 09th March 2023.

Taking inspiration from the Hindu festival of Holi and the Brazilian Rio Carnival, both known as a celebration of music, dance, and color that brings people together from all over the world.

The three-day festival’s main highlights include the collaborative live mural painting – a first in the Maldives, by American artist Daev Momo and Maldivian street artist Ahmed Sobah (aka Toxicrew).

Momo began his experimental outdoor work in the late 90s while some of the notable mural commissions of him include the works done for Facebook, Pepsi, the NFL and the World Trade Center.

During the festival, the Canadian beverage art consultant Tao Zrafi will be hosting themed cocktail apprentice sessions. Tao is most famous for being a finalist in the Drink Masters Season 01 on Netflix. The cocktail menu Tao is set to create at the resort will be made available even after the festival has concluded.

Apart from this, the festival will include musical performances by traditional ‘boduberu’ group Harubee as well as the local band Affan & The King Coconuts. The resort will also host pop-up stalls by different local talents, belly dancing, fire performances, throwing of festive colors at the beach, henna art, and mandala making.

The finale of the festival will be the Raa Raa Beats pool party on the even of 09th March, featuring local powerhouse artist Zara and Mahran followed by DJ Baapu with a special live art performance by local mural artist Hassan Najih hosted by the resort’s very own Suvasthi Retail & Art Gallery.
