A completely new airline named BeOnd is planning to launch flights in the summer of 2023 to and from Velana International Airport (VIA) with Airbus A321LR aircraft in its fleet.
The airline will be using the Airbus A321LRs which comes with only 68 seats that can be converted into beds, in a 2-2 configuration.
BeOnd reportedly plans to open 15 routes which include Paris, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, Milan, Jeddah, Riyadh, Dubai, Mumbai, Delhi, Astana, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taipei initially.
The airline also plans to offer luxurious on-board services with catering by a starred chef. Each customer will receive a complete wellness kit and in-flight Wi-Fi will be included.
Passengers will have the option to check in their luggage at home and have the option of a limousine transfer to the airport.
The new airline project operated by the UAE-based investment company Arabesque and backed by the Maldivian hotel group SIMDI. The management team consists of Tero Naskila, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of BeOnd, who is the former CEO of Estonian Air and a commercial director of Air Blatic.
The company’s Chief Sales Officer is Max Nilov, and its Commercial Director and co-found is Sascha Feuerher, who has worked in aviation consulting.
BeOnd is supported by the Maldives government, which granted the company the status of a national carrier.
While the airline will launch its initial operations using the Airbus A321LRs, its management expressed interest in the A321 XLR when it enters service in 2024.
