Dhiraagu has on Wednesday announced Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) 2024 is now open for registrations.
This year’s edition was announced at a special press conference held at Dhiraagu Head Office on Wednesday, confirming that registrations are now open for the 5K, 10K, and half-marathon categories.
For the 2024 edition, Dhiraagu has announced the inclusion of a brand-new Office/Resort categori.
Interested participants can register now via www.dmrr.mv and slots are available up to 4,000 participants, after which registrations will close, Dhiraagu added. This year’s DMRR marks the 15th edition of the largest and most anticipated run in the Maldives, and is scheduled to be held on October 25, 2024 at Central Park, Hulhumale’.
“Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race is the largest running event held in the Maldives, focused towards promoting a healthy lifestyle and building a culture of competitive running and mass participation runs,” said Mohamed Mirshan Hassan, Director, Brand and Marketing Communications at Dhiraagu.
“This year, as we mark the 15th edition of DMRR, we are proud to introduce yet another new component to the event; the Office/Resort category. With this new category, our aim is to give people working at different resorts and offices the opportunity to participate as a team and represent their organization at a competitive level.”
DMRR is the first and only international run held in the Maldives, listed in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar with a World Athletics-certified race route. This event brings together runners from all over the world with participants from 27 countries taking part in the event last year.
Dhiraagu will award five grants of total MVR 200,000 amongst the top five endorsed NGOs nominated by participants at the time of registration to help kick-start their planned activities. Dhiraagu will also be donating MVR 100 from each participant registration and all proceeds from special bib number sales in equal shares to the endorsed partner NGOs.
Last year, the company awarded a total of MVR 635,000 amongst all the endorsed partner NGOs of DMRR.
