Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives have kicked off the Girls to Code Laamu Edition.
The Girls to Code program teaches its participants basic coding skills by using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. By the end of the program, participants who had no prior background in coding will get the opportunity to practice what they learned and apply it to creating a website of their own.
The classes will be conducted online for two months starting from 22nd January. This program is exclusive to girls between 14 to 20 years old. Dhiraagu and Women in Tech Maldives aim to inspire and empower women to join technology fields with this initiative.
“Whichever career path you may choose, you will find that coding will become such a beneficial skill that would give you confidence and open doors to a world of possibilities for your future,” said Bishaara Hameed, Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility at Dhiraagu.
This is the fourth edition of the “Girls to Code” series, the first of which launched back in 2019 at Fuvahmulah City. The second and third editions were held in 2020 and 2021 at GDh. Thinadhoo and HDh. Kulhudhuffushi respectively.
