The current administration is not seeking for prompt action on raising fees levied on recruiters of expatriate workers, confirms Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan.
The minister’s statements has come hot in the heels of the Maldives parliament passing legislature that empowers the government to raise the fees.
In a press conference on Tuesday morning, the minister said that though the legislature has been passed, the government does not have any immediate plans to raise any fees, including the quota fee.
As per current law, the annual quota fee is MVR 2,000 and a fee of MVR 350 for work permits for expatriate workers; both are levied on the employers.
