{"id":10037,"date":"2024-08-04T23:52:18","date_gmt":"2024-08-04T18:52:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=10037"},"modified":"2024-08-04T23:52:18","modified_gmt":"2024-08-04T18:52:18","slug":"stelco-decides-to-conduct-energy-audit-owing-to-surged-bills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=10037","title":{"rendered":"STELCO decides to conduct energy audit owing to surged bills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has decided to conduct an energy audit owing to significant increment in utility bills from Greater Male&#8217; residences.<\/p>\n<p>STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahmy said that after review, 92% of the bills declined, but 6% of Male&#8217; households and 15% of Hulhumale residences showed significant discrepancies.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Generally, we receive electricity bill-related complaints every month, but we received comparatively fewer complaints this month,&#8221; Fahmy said during a press conference that highlighted the recent surge in utility bills.<\/p>\n<p>He added that it was prudent to raise awareness among consumers with regards to the factors contributing to increase in electricity usage.<\/p>\n<p>Fahmy said that STELCO intends to visit the residences that reported surges in their utility bills to conduct energy audits.
