The Ministry of Housing, Land, and Urban Development has announced that the heirs of Male’ area landowners, will inherit these lands upon the demise of the owners.<\/p>\n
The ministry said this is applicable to the recipients who were finalized to receive plots under Binveriya Scheme launched during the former administration.<\/p>\n
The current administration has begun awarding these lands to the recipients, while some of the plots still remain unallotted since these areas have not been reclaimed yet.<\/p>\n
The Housing Ministry announced that in the case of the demise of any finalist applicant, their heirs must prove their right to inheritance at the relevant courts. The report of the inheritance case ruling should be submitted to the ministry’s ‘Hiyaavehi Portal’ and request an appointment, after which the heirs will be called to sign the property documents.<\/p>\n
A total of 18,955 applicants were finalized to receive plots under the first phase of Binveriya Scheme, under which 9,003 plots have been planned for allotment.<\/p>\n
Plots from reclaimed Giraavaru, Gulhifalhu, and Hulhumale’ lands will be allotted under the scheme. The ministry said 624 plots under the scheme have already been awarded to recipients.<\/p>\n
Housing Minister Dr. Ali Haidar said on Monday, while speaking at the parliament, that the awarding of Hulhumale’ plots will be completed by the end of October.<\/p>\n
With 1,408 plots planned for allotment under the scheme, 465 of these were awarded in 2023, with 159 plots awarded so far this year.
