Thursday, 22nd July – State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has cautioned the residents of Greater Male’ region on possible electricity cuts for the upcoming two-days.<\/p>\n

According to the utility company the power cuts are expected amid ongoing works of energizing the unified electrical grid in the region – the work will continue from Friday through Saturday, 23rd and 24th July.<\/p>\n

STELCO has confirmed on their planned works on upgrading the electrical grid earlier, on scheduled dates to which both tomorrow and the day after have been added.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the utility provider is hopeful in completing their energizing works by Saturday, should the process conclude without facing any technical malfunctions.<\/p>\n

Earlier on Wednesday, 21st July, both Male’ City and the satellite town of Hulhumale’ experienced short-lived power cuts amid the energizing work.<\/p>\n

The Greater Male’ Electrical Grid includes a region-wide unified network powered by two 132kV circuits spanning a 7-kilometer radius. Moreover, the project also includes installation of four 95mV transformers in Male’ City and Hulhumale’ with another two 8mV transformers added to the grid in the satellite town.<\/p>\n

STELCO reports that the electrical grid possess the capacity of providing electricity up to 100 Mega-Watts through each of the circuits.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the possible ‘game-changer’ utility project will be capable of providing electricity throughout the region despite power failures in any one of the islands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
