First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed attended the inauguration of the “Fahi Sihhath Health Fair” on Friday, marking World Health Day at Artificial Beach.<\/p>\n
Organized in collaboration with the Maldives National University (MNU), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the one-day event highlights the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles and building resilient communities.<\/p>\n
Speaking at the opening ceremony, MNU Vice Chancellor Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam emphasized that the fair aligns with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu\u2019s vision for a healthier society. Dr. Shehenaz noted that the campaign showcases how collective action against non-communicable diseases and active community engagement through education and empowerment are key to ensuring a healthier future.<\/p>\n
WHO Representative Dr. Padmal De Silva and UNICEF Deputy Representative Mr. E.C. Finegold also addressed the gathering, commending the Maldives\u2019 achievements in the health sector and reflecting on the lessons drawn from this year\u2019s World Health Day theme.<\/p>\n
Following the ceremony, the First Lady toured the exhibits, which feature contributions from a wide range of organizations, including MNU\u2019s Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, and School of Nursing, alongside the Dhamanaveshi, Care Society, Cancer Society of Maldives, Diabetic Society of Maldives, Health Protection Agency, Hulhumal\u00e9 Hospital, Society for Health Education, and Swim Maldives. Free health screening services are also available at the fair.<\/p>\n
The event is being held in two sessions, with activities scheduled from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and resuming from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s World Health Day theme, “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,” highlights national efforts to improve maternal and child health, reinforcing the message that the well-being of citizens is crucial to the country’s prosperity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
