President Dr Mohamed Muizzu<\/strong> marked the 60th Independence Day of the Maldives by meeting with members of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF)<\/strong> and the Maldives Police Service (MPS)<\/strong> in a special ceremony honouring their service and dedication to the nation.<\/p>\n

Held as part of the official Independence Day commemorations, the event began with a ceremonial guard of honour<\/strong> presented to the President, who was warmly welcomed by Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon<\/strong>, Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan<\/strong>, Chief of Defence Force Major General Ibrahim Hilmy<\/strong>, and Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony, President Muizzu awarded Presidential Medals, Long Service Medals, and Distinguished Service Medals<\/strong> to members of both the MNDF and MPS, in recognition of their exemplary contributions to national security and public service.<\/p>\n

In his keynote address, the President praised the unwavering dedication and professionalism of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies in safeguarding the country\u2019s sovereignty, independence, and public order<\/strong>. He reaffirmed his administration\u2019s strong commitment to supporting the operational capacity, welfare, and morale<\/strong> of MNDF and police personnel.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur armed forces and police are the guardians of national peace and resilience. Their work ensures the freedom and safety that our people enjoy every day,\u201d President Muizzu said. \u201cThis government remains resolute in empowering them with the resources, recognition, and support they need.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the President\u2019s remarks, Major General Ibrahim Hilmy<\/strong> and Commissioner Ismail Naveen<\/strong> delivered their own addresses, reflecting on the responsibilities entrusted to their institutions. Both leaders reiterated their unwavering dedication to upholding national stability and protecting the Maldivian people.<\/p>\n

The ceremony concluded with a powerful reaffirmation of duty, as personnel from both MNDF and MPS renewed their pledges<\/strong> to continue serving the nation with honour and integrity.<\/p>\n
