The Minister of Tourism, Thoriq Ibrahim on Wednesday has said Maldives will be opening seven new tourist resort properties throughout the year.<\/p>\n
He made the remarks in a press briefing at the President’s Office on Wednesday, where he said that these new properties will add over 1,000 beds to the market. The minister also confirms leasing 31 different venues for various tourism-related ventures since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu took office.<\/p>\n
While speaking the policies for the tourism industry, the minister further affirmed leniencies to developers and stakeholders to develop properties in atolls with fewer resorts. Thoriq said this decision aims at enhancing tourism benefits across the country, available for everyone.<\/p>\n
“We have leased 16 different venues under a close bidding process for tourism development since the current administration took charge, and leased another 11 places under cross-subsidy policy. Additionally, we have leased four properties through an open bidding process as well,” Minister Thoriq remarked.<\/p>\n
As of now, Maldives boasts of 179 operational tourist resorts, 914 guesthouses, 170 safari vessels, and 16 hotels that contribute to a combined bed capacity of 67,047.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
