The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is preparing to launch physical works on the next stage of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project along nothern waterfront of Male’ City, with construction expected to get underway within the coming days.<\/p>\n
The works form part of Phase 1 of the broader redevelopment initiative, which covers the corridor running from the Local Market area through the Heveiru Ferry Terminal. The section between the Local Market and Izzudheen Jetty was already successfully upgraded and opened to the public on December 8 last year.<\/p>\n
Attention now turns to the four remaining segments from Izzudheen Jetty to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal.<\/p>\n
The upcoming construction phase includes the laying of asphalt along a 700-meter stretch and the construction of a 610-meter quay wall to support road widening, both carried out in line with design standards applied to the previously completed sections.<\/p>\n
Beyond the road surface itself, the project also covers the installation of a full drainage system, pavement construction, and street lighting across the affected corridor.<\/p>\n
MTCC confirmed that despite the scale of the works, the area surrounding Fishermen’s Park will remain unaffected.<\/p>\n
To reduce disruption to commuters during construction, MTCC will replace atoll ferry services currently operating from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal. From next Monday, those services will be temporarily redirected to the Maafannu Ferry Terminal and the Hulhumale’ Ferry Terminal for the duration of the works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
