The redevelopment of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, the arterial road running along Mal\u00e9’s northern waterfront, is on course for full completion by end of June, Construction Minister Dr. Abdulla Muththalib announced on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu visited the active construction site to assess progress firsthand.<\/p>\n
Phase 1 covers the 90-metre segment between the Henveiru Ferry Terminal and Fishermen’s Park. The contractor, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), targets completion of this stretch within one month. The remaining 520-metre section, running from Fishermen’s Park to Izzudheen Jetty, follows, bringing the full corridor to the June deadline.<\/p>\n
The project widens the road by pushing the quay wall six metres seaward, reclaiming space from the sea rather than the city. Utility network upgrades run parallel to the civil works. A new 500-bay motorcycle parking zone will take shape opposite City Garden, a dedicated quay wall section will allow vessels to berth along the upgraded frontage.<\/p>\n

MTCC CEO Ahmed Saudhee acknowledged the site’s logistical complexity. The corridor runs through one of Mal\u00e9’s most office-dense and lane-restricted zones, yet Saudhee said work is moving steadily with public cooperation and close coordination with the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure.<\/p>\n
