The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has extended the Mal\u00e9 housing application deadline for a second time, giving residents additional weeks to file under the government’s “Housing for All” policy.<\/p>\n
Originally, applications were set to close on the 30th of this month. However, the Ministry now confirms that Mal\u00e9 residents can submit applications for land plots and flats until 23:59hrs on May 31.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the scheme covers a significant allocation. The government plans to distribute 15,000 land plots across the Greater Mal\u00e9 Region, including Ras Mal\u00e9. On top of that, officials will issue 7,900 flats within the Mal\u00e9 area.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the land allocation follows a similar structure. Male’ residents will receive 10,000 plots, while non-residents living in the capital can access 3,000 plots. Additionally, 500 plots are set aside for individuals with disabilities, and another 1,500 plots will serve residents of narrow alleys and those joining land exchange schemes.<\/p>\n
Notably, the policy also opens new doors for previous beneficiaries. Applications who earlier received 1 or 2-bedroom flats can now apply for 3-bedroom units. However, that is, provided they meet criteria such as the number of children. Moreover, individuals whose spouses own property remain eligible to apply for land. Additionally, joint plot holders can relinquish their share to apply on their own.<\/p>\n
The deadline also allows a revised criteria. Persons with disabilities can now, apply for flats under a dedicated category.<\/p>\n
On the construction side, progress is already visible. Foundation stones have been laid for new flats in Hulhumal\u00e9 and Vilingili. In addition, the government is actively seeking contractors to build affordable housing units.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
