The Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development is seeking an interested party to provide consultancy services to develop the master plan for the Rasmal\u00e9 development project.<\/p>\n
The current government launched the Rasmal\u00e9 mega project as means to provide a permanent fix to one of the most prevailing concerns Greater Mal\u00e9 Region has been facing for decades: housing.<\/p>\n
While launching the project, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced the culmination of Rasmal\u00e9 development means a home for all who need it: and a fully developed city close to the capital with state-of-the-art facilities and amenities.<\/p>\n
Under the project, a total of 1,010 hectares of land is being reclaimed. The designated contractor has already reclaimed over 500 hectares of land already.<\/p>\n
Long-term vision of the development plan is the development of 20,000 housing units within 20 years. The government’s plan is to develop this new city as an environmentally-friendly eco-city.<\/p>\n
As such, Rasmal\u00e9 will power electricity through renewable means. Moreover, the government will install structures to reduce environmental risks at the city.<\/p>\n
The relevant ministry’s top pick for the desirable consultant is one that would provide baseline study. Besides this, the consultant should provide a framework for urban development, land use plan, and an environmental sustainability plan.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, government will consider implementing eco-friendly practices in Rasmal\u00e9 as part of the master plan. This includes utility service planning, transportation, and accessibility for people with special needs.<\/p>\n
Bid submission for the consultancy work will take place at 10:00hrs on July 13.<\/p>\n
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu confirms lands under the current social housing initiative will be allocated once Rasmal\u00e9 reclamation concludes. At Tuesday’s press conference, the president acknowledged some delays to the project’s pace owing to surge in oil prices.<\/p>\n
