The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed the sheet piling works under the first phase of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu upgrading project on the northern side of Mal\u00e9.<\/p>\n
The project is a key government priority aimed at delivering a permanent solution to traffic congestion in the capital.<\/p>\n
Sharing its latest progress update, MTCC said sub-base work for segments 4 and 5 is complete, and crews are now laying the aggregate base course. The company expects to finish the final casting of the capping concrete for the quay wall within this week.<\/p>\n
Construction of sidewalks and the development of parking zones along the street are also progressing rapidly, MTCC said.<\/p>\n
Asphalt laying on Boduthakurufaanu Magu is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, this week, with the necessary machinery already mobilized to the site. Although the initial completion deadline shifted for various reasons, MTCC now expects to deliver the entire project by July 26.<\/p>\n
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu described the project as one of vital importance and inclusion to the Ring Road initiative, which he launched during his tenure as the Minister of Housing. He said the road, developed as a ring around Mal\u00e9, will turn the outer road into a wide, two-way street once complete. This change will significantly reduce congestion on the capital’s inner roads, the president noted earlier.<\/p>\n
Under this project, asphalt has already been laid on the stretch from Izzudheen Magu to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal. The ongoing phase covers the section from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal to the North Harbour. Once this phase concludes, the work will begin to upgrade the stretch from the North Harbour to the Dharumavantha Hospital area to modern standards.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
