Burnham is the 59th Prime Minister of the UK, and seventh to assume the office in 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>President Muizzu in his letter, extended wishes for Burnham&#8217;s success in his new role. He reaffirmed the deep value the Maldivian government places on the long-standing historic ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, describing the relationship as one built on shared principles of upholding democratic values, defending human rights and promoting people-to-people connections.<\/p>\n<p>The Maldivian President also conveyed sincere appreciation for the significant contribution made by the UK government towards the country&#8217;s socio-economic development in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>President Muizzu further expressed his eagerness to work closely with the newly elected UK Prime Minister in strengthening the enduring partnership between the Maldives and the UK.
