One of the most long-standing and prominent names in the energy industry, W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 has heavily praised the engineers of State Electric Company Limited (STELCO).<\/p>\n
The Finnish technology group has been enjoyed long sustained professional relationship with STELCO. The companies celebrated 30 years of corporate partnership in 2022, following which W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 released a press statement addressing its experience.<\/p>\n
The first recorded acquisition and installation of a W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 power generator in the Maldives is dated back to 1990 when the manufacturer’s generator was imported and installed at Male’ powerhouse.<\/p>\n
STELCO noted that the power generators imported from W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 32 years ago is still being utilized at the utility company’s powerhouse.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the technology group has acknowledged and praised the dedication, commitment and skills of the local engineers working at STELCO who had been instrumental in proper maintenance of the power generators.<\/p>\n
In addition to two generators first commissioned to the Maldives 32 years back, the manufacturer had provided 6 additional generators later on. In addition to this, the company had provided the 6 generators to Hulhumale’ powerhouse as well.<\/p>\n
Apart from supplying the power generators, W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 has continued to provide training programs to the engineers of STELCO to remain up to date on the technology. Additionally, STELCO had recently commissioned the usage of W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4’s state-of-the-art engine control and monitoring system.<\/p>\n
While praising the technical prowess and assistance of the Finnish energy company, STELCO’s Managing Director Mr. Ahmed Shareef noted that the island nation was able to facilitate adequate electricity across all of its residential islands effectively due to the efficiency, skills and servicing provided by W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4.<\/p>\n
Mr. Shareef had expressed gratitude to W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 for being a constant support in STELCO’s lifelong commitment of providing sustainable and efficient utility services to the Maldivian consumers.<\/p>\n
W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 Oyj Abp, which trades internationally as W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 Corporation was first established when the governor of the county of North Karelia approved the construction of a sawmill in the municipality of Tohmaj\u00e4rvi, Grand Duchy of Finland on 12th April 1834.<\/p>\n
Following inception, the sawmill was soon taken over by the wealthy industrialist Nils Ludvig Arppe who built ironworks in the sawmill grounds, and was renamed as W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 Ab in 1898. The first diesel engine venture under W\u00e4rtsil\u00e4 began in 1938 after the group signed a license agreement with Friedrich Krupp Germania Werft AG in Germany.<\/p>\n
