{"id":3595,"date":"2022-07-06T10:03:24","date_gmt":"2022-07-06T05:03:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=3595"},"modified":"2022-07-06T10:03:24","modified_gmt":"2022-07-06T05:03:24","slug":"government-increase-taxi-fare-rates-in-compliance-with-drivers-demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=3595","title":{"rendered":"Government increase taxi fare rates in compliance with drivers&#8217; demand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The government of Maldives on Tuesday, 5th July, announced its decision of bumping taxi fare rates in Greater Male&#8217; Region.<\/p>\n<p>According to Maldives Ministry of Transport, this change will be effective from Wednesday, 6th July onwards.<\/p>\n<p>The changes to taxi fare rates include;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Inland travel (in Male&#8217; and Hulhumale&#8217;) &#8211; MVR30 (previously for MVR25)<\/li>\n<li>Male&#8217; to Hulhumale&#8217; Phase I &#8211; MVR85 (previously for MVR75)<\/li>\n<li>Male&#8217; to Hulhumale&#8217; Phase II &#8211; MVR100<\/li>\n<li>Male&#8217; to Hulhule&#8217; &#8211; MVR70<\/li>\n<li>Hulhumale&#8217; Phase I to Hulhule&#8217; &#8211; MVR80<\/li>\n<li>Hulhumale&#8217; Phase II to Hulhule&#8217; &#8211; MVR85<\/li>\n<li>Hulhumale&#8217; Phase I to Hulhumale&#8217; Phase II, and vice-versa &#8211; MVR40<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The changes to fare rates were brought in light of recent protests led by taxi drivers who demanded a hike in the price in light of rising oil prices in the global market.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government of Maldives on Tuesday, 5th July, announced its decision of bumping taxi fare rates in Greater Male&#8217; Region.
