The event was held at the country&#8217;s first ever tourist resort; Kurumba Maldives.<\/p>\n<p>The special &#8220;President&#8217;s Tourism Gold Awards&#8221; is a recognition and acknowledgement of the industry&#8217;s most prolific contributors. Some of the major contributors who received the award include;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ahmed Naseem, current Minister of Health<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;MU&#8221; Mohmed Umar Manik<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Champa&#8221; Hussain Afeef<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to the most celebrated, and decorated tourism pioneers, President Solih gave the award to some of the former presidents as well; including the Late Ibrahim Nasir, Al-Ustad Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and Mohamed Nasheed.<\/p>\n<p>Tourism industry contributors such as guesthouse proprietors, diving centers, and other affiliate businesses were celebrated at the event. The respective recipients of such ventures received the special award as well.<\/p>\n<p>Maldives celebrates its 50th tourism anniversary in 2022.
