{"id":5087,"date":"2023-01-19T14:51:16","date_gmt":"2023-01-19T09:51:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=5087"},"modified":"2023-01-19T14:51:16","modified_gmt":"2023-01-19T09:51:16","slug":"addu-city-waste-to-energy-facility-at-95-completion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=5087","title":{"rendered":"Addu City waste-to-energy facility at 95% completion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Technology confirmed the development of the waste-to-energy facility in Addu City is at 95% completion.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry said the installation of the waste-to-energy system is near completed, with the development of the control building being the only ongoing component.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ministry, the project will be completed by July 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The waste-to-energy project was funded in 2015 by Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) for AED 22 million. The project was launched with the aim of creating an eco-friendly energy facility in the southern hub.<\/p>\n<p>ADFD reports the project will save up to 1.9 million liters of diesel and reduce Addu City&#8217;s total waste by 10%. The facility will have the capacity to generate 1.5 megawatts of power by burning 50 tons of waste each day.
