The Maldives government has initiated preparations to distribute land plots in the Greater Male’ region.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure announced that the list of recipients for the Binveriyaa and Gedhoruveriyaa schemes under the Gedhoruverin program will be made public in March.<\/p>\n

The ministry accepted applications for the scheme from June until September 2022.<\/p>\n

The government will distribute 4,000 housing units under the Gedhoruveriyaa scheme, and 5,000 land plots under the Binveriyaa scheme; including 1,000 land plots in Hulhumale’, 2,000 plots in Gulhifalhu, and 2,000 plots in Giraavaru.<\/p>\n

According to the ministry, it received over 20,000 applications for the housing units and over 15,000 applications for the land plots.<\/p>\n

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is currently overseeing the preparation of the land plots in Hulhumale’; including the cleaning and leveling of the plots, and establishing utility services.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the ministry said the recipients will receive a total of 1.2 million square feet of land in 60 areas of Hulhumale’ with a minimum plot size of 1,250 square feet and an additional 400 square feet per recipient on each plot.
