Bookings will be made through the island&#8217;s official website\/application. Additionally, HDC confirmed that access to the island is possible only through a booking.<\/p>\n<p>Booking opportunities opened officially from 16:00hrs, Thursday onwards.<\/p>\n<p>Kudagiri picnic island, part of the current government&#8217;s pledges to provide a safe and public space for the locals to visit and enjoy during holidays, has the capacity of catering to between 500 to 600 people at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>However, HDC said that only 300 will be allowed on the island&#8217;s grand opening day.<\/p>\n<p>HDC has arranged ferry services between Male&#8217; City and the picnic island, which will charge MVR 25 per person per trip, and free of charge on public holidays. Picnic-goers must also pay MVR50 as entrance fee, and children below the age of 12 will be charged half of that as entrance fee.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors arranging their own transfer to the island must pay MVR 250 if they wish to berth their vessel in the island for half a day, and MVR 500 for full-day.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from the entrance fee, picnic-goers can book to use the huts available in the island. Visitors have to pay MVR 250 for half-day use of the smaller huts and MVR 500 for full-day use, and MVR 1,200 for full-day use of the larger hut.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has revealed the Kudagiri picnic island will welcome its very first picnic-goers this Saturday, 11th February.
