{"id":5929,"date":"2023-04-23T15:16:36","date_gmt":"2023-04-23T10:16:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=5929"},"modified":"2023-04-23T15:16:36","modified_gmt":"2023-04-23T10:16:36","slug":"mma-reports-fake-dollar-exchange-to-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=5929","title":{"rendered":"MMA reports fake dollar exchange to police"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has reported exchange of fake US Dollars to local authorities.<\/p>\n<p>The central bank has said that certain parties have been advertising the exchange of counterfeited dollar bills, which has been brought to the attention of Maldives Police Service.<\/p>\n<p>MMA&#8217;s media official Mohamed Nazih said that several social media pages were promoting the exchange of these counterfeit bills, with a case already lodged before Eid-ul-Fitr.<\/p>\n<p>Reports claim that these counterfeit bills, all USD 100 denominations, have been produced in North Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Pages that are promoting these fake bills claim that the counterfeit currency can be deposited to ATMs as well.<\/p>\n<p>The first instance of counterfeited &#8220;super notes&#8221; were reported in 2011.
