The State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) has announced its ‘Avikatha’ program, granting residents an opportunity for passive income.<\/p>\n

Under the program, STELCO is seeking rooftops of local residences to take on rent to install solar-power panels.<\/p>\n

The project is aimed at reducing dependency on conventional oil-based power generation, and use renewable energy sources that utilizes natural resources to harness electricity.<\/p>\n

STELCO said that it will pay a rent of MVR180.60 for every panel installed on the rooftops, and added that all expenses of installing the panels will be incurred by the utility provider.<\/p>\n

The utility provider also noted the initiative will help in reaching the Net-Zero vision of the Maldives government, increase environmental preservation efforts, and provide opportunity for the locals to gain passive income opportunities through rent.<\/p>\n

The rooftops that are taken on rent by STELCO to install the panels must include free space of minimum 100 square feet, and has the capacity to hold a minimum weight of 150 kilograms. Additionally, the rooftops should be directly exposed to sunlight and must have room to install the panels and other associated equipment.<\/p>\n

Interested residents may contact STELCO to proceed under the ‘Avikatha’ program, and is applicable for Male’ residents and every island with a STELCO power station.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
