The governments of Maldives and the United Kingdom have entered into a maritime security agreement.<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula on behalf of the Maldives government and Baroness Charlotte Vere, UK’s Minister for Aviation, Maritime, and Security on behalf of the British government.<\/p>\n

The memorandum of understanding signed between the two nations on the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code is said to further strengthen and enhance cooperation between the Maldives and the UK, said Minister Nahula.<\/p>\n

The partnership will also boost the development of stronger security policies for marine transport and enforce stricter safety measures in international harbors. She also stressed that the agreement enables both nations to cooperate and mutually benefit in formulating marine transport guidelines and policies.<\/p>\n

As the Maldives government enters a new maritime security partnership with the UK, the Ministry of Transport is already working to strengthen 14 different policies related to maritime security.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
