{"id":6613,"date":"2023-08-09T15:25:17","date_gmt":"2023-08-09T10:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=6613"},"modified":"2023-08-09T15:25:17","modified_gmt":"2023-08-09T10:25:17","slug":"13000-applications-eligible-for-new-social-housing-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=6613","title":{"rendered":"13,000 applications eligible for new social housing scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (MNPHI), 13,000 applications are eligible for the Gedhoruveriya social housing scheme.<\/p>\n<p>State Minister of the ministry, and chair of the flat committee, Akram Kamaluddin said that a total of 15,000 applicants, inclusive of joint applications, meet the eligibility criteria for the housing flats.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that one of the spouses from the married couples who applied separately and were deemed eligible, will be required to relinquish their flat according to the established procedure which has been the practice.<\/p>\n<p>The Gedhoruveriya scheme received over 20,000 applications, with 14,400 individuals applying for three-bedroom apartments and 6,200 applying for two-bedroom apartments. The Maldives government made the decision to allocate flats to all applicants who meet the eligibility criteria.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the scheme, the government is currently in the process of developing 8,000 housing flats in Hulhumale&#8217;. The state already contracted JMC and NBCC to develop 2,000 units each.<\/p>\n<p>The project, with a total of USD 227 million, is financed by India&#8217;s EXIM Bank under the sovereign guarantee of the Maldives government.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) on Thursday, entered into an agreement with India&#8217;s Kalpataru Projects international Limited (KPIL) to develop the remaining 4,000 units.
