Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured that the individuals listed in the Gedhoruveriya and Binveriya housing schemes, which were implemented during the previous government, will receive their due land plots and housing flats.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a press conference at the President’s Office, President Muizzu said that the individuals in the recipients list of the social housing schemes would not lose their lands or flats, and assured that the individuals would be granted the property even if they not yet received the official ownership document.<\/p>\n
While highlighting the land registration regulation amendments by the previous government, President Muizzu said that if property acquisition occurred irregularly or with false information, the relevant institutions would conduct an investigation to take appropriate action.<\/p>\n
In the first round of Binveriya Scheme, 9001 plots were allocated. The previous government also released the recipients list entitled for the 4,000 housing flats developed at Hulhumale’ II by Fahi-Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC).<\/p>\n
Though 13,000 applicants from the recipients list have been held eligible, only the highest-scoring recipients are entitled to, and received official documents confirming ownership for the 4,000 flats.<\/p>\n
The issue has been referred to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), which then demanded the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (MNPHI) of the previous government, to suspend flat allocations.<\/p>\n
The investigation from ACC revealed inclusion of some ineligible individuals in the top scoring recipients category; and thus, were entitled to the housing flats.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a petition on the same matter had been submitted to the Parliament’s Committee on Petitions. A meeting of the committee on Wednesday, summoned the former State Minister of MNPHI and Executive Director, Akram and Arif respectively, for questioning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
