The F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has announced it will extending a disbursement of USD 300,000 to the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) towards paying the salaries of the FAM staff.<\/p>\n
FIFA has strictly conditioned FAM that its disbursements should only be made to pay the remuneration of the employees.<\/p>\n
Out of the total amount pledged by FIFA, the federation has already deposited USD 100,000 to FAM’s account for the conditioned purpose.<\/p>\n
The newly appointed General Secretary of FAM Mohamed Jaushan Shareef said that FIFA’s payment would be deposited in three stages. He confirmed the first disbursement has been deposited to FAM’s account.<\/p>\n
Jaushan further said that the money would be exchanged into Maldivian Rufiyaa directly through the bank without exchanging it via a third-party exchanger.<\/p>\n
FAM Secretary General further said that the payroll of the association’s staff has already been processed and submitted to the bank to credit the salaries.<\/p>\n
“The process would move ahead through the bank, we requested the bank to credit the salaries into the staff account after exchanging it into Maldivian currency,” Jaushan said.<\/p>\n
Because of the explicit condition by FIFA, the FAM is required to show documented proof of its payment of salaries to staff to the federation before the second disbursement is extended.<\/p>\n
“The disbursement of USD 100,000 would not be sufficient to pay the staff for their entire outstanding remuneration total, but with the sum total of USD 300,000 we can pay them completely, God willing,” Jaushan added.
