{"id":9002,"date":"2024-03-12T09:40:38","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T04:40:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=9002"},"modified":"2024-03-12T09:40:38","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T04:40:38","slug":"govt-pays-mvr-787-m-to-fishers-clears-backlog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=9002","title":{"rendered":"Govt pays MVR 787 M to fishers, clears backlog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said all outstanding dues to local fishers have been settled as of Friday, March 08, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The new administration led by President Muizzu claimed it inherited a backlog of MVR 250 million in outstanding dues to local fishers when it took office in November 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Delays in disbursement of the outstanding dues sparked protests in February 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Muizzu promised this administration would clear the backlog before Ramadan.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on X on Sunday, President Muizzu said the backlog has been cleared as promised.
