{"id":9327,"date":"2024-05-06T11:54:54","date_gmt":"2024-05-06T06:54:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=9327"},"modified":"2024-05-06T11:54:54","modified_gmt":"2024-05-06T06:54:54","slug":"economic-highlights-of-the-2024-first-quarter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mbt.mv\/?p=9327","title":{"rendered":"Economic highlights of the 2024 first quarter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) in their Quarterly Business Survey for 2024 first quarter, the employment rose for businesses in all sectors except for the wholesale and retail trade sector.<\/p>\n<p>Besides this, tourism sector reported a moderation in the pace of new hires during the review quarter. For the wholesale and retail trade sector, the rate of decline in employment levels moderated compared to the preceding fourth quarter in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses in tourism sector turned pessimistic following the end of tourism peak season in the review quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, input prices remained elevated across all the surveyed sectors by MMA.
