Nova Maldives plants 75 coconut palm trees to commemorate this year’s World Environment Day, enhancing the local ecosystems and promoting sustainable tourism.<\/p>\n
The property is excited in introducing comprehensive initiatives aligned with this year’s theme for the Environment Day #GenerationRestoration.<\/p>\n
As part of its efforts for sustainable tourism practices, Nova Maldives is contributing 75 coconut trees to Alifu Dhaalu atoll Dhangethi; a local island in the neighborhood of the property. Besides this, a marine biologist from Nova will also present at a local school, discussing reforestation and its benefits to the community and the environment.<\/p>\n
The resort’s marine biologist will educate attendees about the marine ecosystems in the South Ari Atoll and vital conservation works being done.<\/p>\n
“World Environment Day is an important occasion for us to reflect on our relationship with nature and the steps we can take to protect it,” said Abdulla Aboobakuru, the General Manager of Nova Maldives.<\/p>\n
“Through these activities, we aim to create soulful experiences that highlight our inextricable connection to the natural world, and cultivate a sense of stewardship within our community.”<\/p>\n
Moreover, these efforts are part of Nova Maldives’ broader commitment to sustainable tourism, which already includes a coral nursery program allowing guests to fund coral planting and a partnership with the Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme to inform visitors about ongoing conservation efforts.
