JOALI Maldives, one of the first immersive art resorts in the Maldives, announces its partnership with renowned art consultant and curator Tatiana Gecmen-Waldek to host several experiences for guests to indulge in, including an art festival.
Gecmen-Waldek has worked with some of the most notable brands such as Giorgio Armani, Etro, Roger Vivier, Cartier, Maison Kitsuné, Tods and others.
The Austrian-born Gecmen-Waldek will be “discovering, presenting, and commissioning contemporary artists” for JOALI Maldives who will bring their work to the island at regular intervals in the form of exhibitions, limited editions, or permanent installations.
In commemoration the resort’s commitment to art and sustainability, and in collaboration with the visiting art consultant, JOALI Maldives will host the inaugural Imagi-Nature Art Festival. The festival is scheduled from 14th to 18th April where guests are invited to “get creative and participate” in several activities.
Guests are also invited to celebrate the World Art Day on 15th April, which will be held as part of the art festival as well. The day will be celebrated with a lineup of special events where artists from across the world will be invited to the island to “create bespoke pieces inspired by the surrounding nature, with each immersive artwork created to engage, ignite, and free the imagination”.
The Imagi-Nature Art Festival is curated for “adventurers, dreamers, and storytellers” and will provide an opportunity to fully experience art “in all its glory”.
JOALI Maldives is a top-tier tourist property known for its environmental protection and sustainable efforts coupled with providing an art-immersive experience for tourists. Each piece of art showcased in the resort is unique, but united in their themes showing commitment to sustainability. Several of these pieces are created from recycled waste, clay or other natural materials.
