The recent updates from Maldives Bureau of Statistics reveal the island nation’s Consumer Price Index (inflation rate) fell by 2.17% during June 2021.
Moreover, the statistical bureau posts a decline in inflation rate by 2.24% in the review month, when all price groups excluding fish were included, in comparison with the fall of 0.58% in May 2021.
Earlier the consumer price index for all groups, inclusive of fish fell by just 0.54% in May 2021.
Meanwhile, the statistics bureau confirmed on a CPI uptick by 0.93% through the year up to June 2021 compared with the rise of 2.74% through the year up to May 2021.
According to Maldives Bureau of Statistics the most significant price decrease for the review month include;
- Electricity (-40%)
- Water Supply (-30%)
- Fish (-0.58%)
- Internet access provision services and net storage (-0.98%)
- Fruits (-0.42%)
- Other food products (-0.72%)
On the other hand, the bureau had also highlighted on the most significant price increases for the month which include;
- Mobile communication services (+5.26%)
- Vegetables (+4.87%)
- Fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment (+5.29%)
- Furniture, furnishings and loose carpets (+2.12%)
- Milk, other dairy products and eggs (+0.25%)
- Fixed communication services (+13.36%)
