Saturday, 24th July – Maldives makes the cut on appearing under TIME’s list of the World’s 100 Greatest Places of 2021.
The island nation made the cut, holding its rank alongside famous tourist-heavy cities such as Athens, Tokyo and Paris. Maldives was lauded as a top island destination, which was regarded as an “everchanging archipelago.”
Reportedly the list of tourist favoring spots were selected through TIME’s international network of correspondents, readers and other contributors who sought out these locations for new-offerings and travel experiences.
Writing about the Maldives, TIME’s correspondent Katie Lockhart made mentions of Patina Maldives and the Ritz-Carlton Maldives; two luxury-resort properties at the Fari Islands, which is the latest man-made patchwork island.
Ms. Lockhart had also mentioned on the coral-regeneration project at Velaa Private Island, which she called as the “most extensive” in Maldives.
The TIME’s list of Greatest Places come at a time when the Maldive islands are finding itself recovering through the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic led economic drivel.
