According to the latest updates from the Ministry of Tourism, the Maldives recorded its highest daily arrival count on Sunday, 05th December 2021.
On the official Twitter handle of the ministry, it was reported that the tourist arrivals accounted for on Sunday, current week, reached a total of 6269; which is the highest daily arrival total since Maldives reopened its borders on July 2020.
Meanwhile, the previous highest daily arrival total was accounted for on October 2021 when it had reached 6,197.
The daily tourist arrival to the Maldives has observed a surge amid the new variant of Covid-19 spreading through the Europe and reaching the shores of the island nation as well.
Earlier in 2021, the island nation had welcomed an average of 4,000 tourist everyday which once again slipped to between 1,000 and 1,500; somewhere in April and May following the resurgence of positive Covid-19 cases in the country.
Meanwhile, Maldives has already achieved its target arrival total earlier in October when the Ministry of Tourism had reported that the annual tourist arrival from January up to the review period exceeded 1.1 million travelers.
