The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) has held the highly-anticipated Maldives Media Meet on the sidelines of WTM London 2024.
This exclusive in-person press conference was held at the Excel London Hall N1-500, United Kingdom, on November 05, 2024.
This event was led by Ibrahim Shiuree, the CEO and Managing Director of MMPRC.
Shiuree was joined by the Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal; Dr. Iruthisham Adam, High Commissioner of Maldives to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland; Abdulla Giyas Riyaz, Chairperson of MMPRC; Hussain Afeef, Maldives tourism industry pioneer and Vice Chairman of Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI).

Speaking at this media meet, the Maldives High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Iruthisham Adam, while highlighting the friendship between the Maldives and the UK, said the island nation not only offers the beauty of the islands but also an “invitation to our rich culture, world-class hospitality, and commitment to sustainable tourism.”
The Minister of Tourism, who also spoke at the event, highlighted how the country’s tourism focused on “providing every visitor an experience that respects and nurtures” the environment. He further added that the country aimed to ensure future generations can enjoy the pristine island nation “just as we do today.”
The Maldives Media Meet aimed to strengthen ties with top UK media outlets, and provide the latest in the Maldives tourism scene including destination updates and latest information. The aim of this was to bolster more collaborative relations between both countries; especially through their businesses.
WTM London, a premier global travel industry event, offers a wide array of opportunities for networking and business deals.
MMPRC was joined by a total of over 90 representatives and 217 industry companies at the travel trade fair.
