The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has announced the termination of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) Managing Director Fathmath Thaufeeq, and the Chairman of Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Ahmed Zuhoor.
The MMPRC Managing Director, Fathmath Thaufeeq, commonly referred as Kudu, was appointed to lead the state tourism board last December. Her dismissal had followed the resignations of MMPRC’s Chairperson Aysha Nurain Janah and its board member Rafil Mohamed.
Media reports speculate, both resigned over dissatisfaction with the corporation’s management, especially executive decisions of the Managing Director.
Reports also claim Nurain sent a letter addressed to Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, mentioning the issues in the corporation, such as not adhering to best practices in finance and relationship management.
Earlier when President Muizzu made the decision to appoint Fathmath as the MMPRC Managing Director, there had been criticisms directed to the move since she has no prior and major experience in the industry.
On the other hand, Zuhoor’s removal from HDC is currently unclear.
Zuhoor was the former Sports Minister and the Managing Director of State Electric Company (STLECO).
