Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has contracted multiple port developments projects to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Thursday, 27th January 2022.
The signing took place on Thursday morning during a special ceremony held at the MTCC headquarters. MPL CEO Shahid Ali and Chief Engineer Adam Mohamed signed on behalf of the port authority while Shahid Hussain Moosa, CEO of MTCC signed on behalf of the contractor.
The redevelopment of Kulhudhuffushi City port includes dredging and excavation of the bay channel along with the construction of a quay wall, revetment and installation of navigation lights.
In addition to this, the redevelopment project includes construction of two new building structures; one for port administrative operations while the other will facilitate the port workshop.
The other port development project contracted to MTCC is based at Gaaf Dhaal atoll Thinadhoo. Under the project, the regional port at the island will receive an office building for port’s administrative operations, guard-house complexes as well as a warehouse and a workshop structure.
Additionally, MTCC will install navigation lights and fenders as part of the port development project.
Meanwhile, MPL reported that the project completion period for Kulhudhuffushi port redevelopment is 495-days while the project value is MVR138,980,244.28 while the project completion period for Thinadhoo regional port is 330-days with a confirmed project value of MVR17,864,369.16.
