The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is taking the lead in driving significant infrastructure development projects throughout the Maldives, playing a crucial role in shaping the nation’s transportation and contracting landscape. With a strong commitment to excellence and a proven track record of successful implementations, MTCC continues to contribute to the economic growth and prosperity of the Maldives.
MTCC’s dedication to enhancing maritime infrastructure and transportation networks is evident through its diverse portfolio of projects. From harbor developments to reclamation initiatives, the company is actively involved in various transformative endeavors aimed at strengthening the nation’s connectivity and promoting sustainable development.
One remarkable achievement is the recently concluded R. Kinolhas Harbor Development Project, completed within an impressive timeframe of only one and a half years since the contract signing. Valued at approximately $3 million (MVR 46.55 million), the project involved extensive dredging operations, including new harbor basin dredging, existing harbor basin dredging, channel dredging, and boat beaching dredging. Additionally, the project encompassed the construction of a 186-meter quay wall and the rectification of an existing quay wall. The successful completion of the R. Kinolhas Harbor project showcases MTCC’s commitment to delivering high-quality infrastructure projects efficiently.
Furthermore, MTCC is actively engaged in ongoing projects that will further transform the Maldivian landscape. One such endeavor is the Hdh. Hanimaadhoo Harbor Development Project, where work is progressing well, with an overall project progress of 55%. The project includes the design and construction of the harbor upgrade, involving dredging and reclamation activities, breakwater construction, and quay wall installation. By improving the infrastructure of Hanimaadhoo Harbor, MTCC aims to enhance connectivity and facilitate efficient maritime operations in the region.
Apart from harbor developments, MTCC is actively involved in other crucial initiatives. The ongoing K. Thilafushi Waste Area Rehabilitation project focuses on installing a surface water management system and developing a carriageway. Additionally, MTCC is contributing to the infrastructure development of Ha. Hoarafushi airport, which includes the construction of a passenger terminal and fire building. The company has also mobilized efforts for the K. Dhoonidhoo Harbor Redevelopment and Shore Protection project. These projects demonstrate MTCC’s comprehensive approach to infrastructure development, covering diverse sectors critical to the nation’s progress.
