The newest vessel of Maldives State Shipping (MSS) has arrived in the country’s capital Male’ City, on 30th October, Friday.
Moreover, this is the first vessel purchased by MSS; a subsidiary of the country’s largest state-owned enterprise, State Trading Organization (STO).
MSS confirms that after the branding works come through, the vessel will be put to towards the utilization and provision of shipping services between Maldives and Sri Lanka. In addition to this, the company confirms that 99% of the ship crew will be comprised of locals.
The new vessel’s arrival has pushed anticipation of MSS to possible enhancement of direct shipping between the neighboring countries.
Meanwhile, MSS reported that the ship holds the capacity to accommodate a total of 680 cargo-containers.
Maldives State Shipping is one of the latest additions in the state-owned enterprises; officially inaugurated in 2020.
